We have a Compaq(HP) DL380 G3 server. I have Win2k Advanced server installed and everything within windows seeems to work fine. However anything in a dos shell runs real slow or hangs. An example is when I edit a file in dos sometimes the edit screen just hangs. When you try to send a <alt> and f to bring up the file menu to save or exit the file it just sits there. The cpu does not spike or anything. We have never had a problem with the dl380 but this is the first generation 3 server we have had. I called HP and of course they told me to call MS. It does the samething when you go into safe mode. We have dos applications that we need to run on the server and they do the same thing. I have tried sp3,sp2 and no sp and it still does the samething. It has two processors(2.4GHZ) and 1GB of Compaq RAM(no third party).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

I used to work with some dos applications a while ago:
Firstly check your virtual memory settings - make sure it is the same as your ram + 16mb. Also do some research on the web about changing your HIMEM values in AUTOEXEC.bat.

Might be beneficial but not sure - give it a try anyway.
