I am a complete novice as far as dBase goes. Please can anyone tell me if this is possible...

Run a query from a DOS batch script that does a simple select on a number of .dbf files stored on a local drive.

The closest thing I can compare it to is OSQL in SQL Server and SQL Plus in Oracle.

Please help me! This is driving me mental.

Thanks

You don't say what version of dbase you have. This is significat because i knpw dABSE IV and below DOES have a SQL interface (kind of).

See help for SET SQL ON

While version 5.5, I believe, made this defunct.

However, dbase does have its own query language and you can create a .QBE (Query by example) file linking many .dbf's together.

see CREATE QUERY

I hope this helps
