Hi all,

I'm running networker 6.2 on Windows 2000 sp2 with a overland data 5-tape autoloader.

I would like to run a script that performs an inventory of the autochanger. What I'm seeing is that when a different pool of tapes at still inventoried by networker, but physically the tapes are not in the autochanger and that days backup pool tapes are, then networker just sits and waits with the message waiting for writable media when that days back up kicks off. I need a way of automating an inventory via a script or is there a setting in the gui that will make a backup job perform an inventory before a backup?

Regards.

Look up the nsrjb command in your command spec.
nsrjb -I to inventory
nsrjb -H for hardware reset
nsrjb -E to initialize element status (if your jukebox supports this).

Have enough tapes in the library of each pool that you backup.
I do not use Auto media management, i manually label, each tape.
Reduce # of pools to Minumum, you can use Notes pool to backup Apppserver and Notes pool to backup NT server, this can be done via pools tab and configuring One pool tapes to be used by more then one group.
