WebFocus v523 HP-UX 11-11i

We recently migrated from VMS Focus to Unix WebFocus. Under VMS Focus I could submit a command procedure, that runs a fex, off to the batch que.

Is there a way under Unix WebFocus to write a shell script, that runs a fex, to the scheduler? (Is there a command line interface to WebFocus?)

Although WebFOCUS is meant to be run from a web or application server through the WebFOCUS client, there are ways to run fexes directly from the WebFOCUS Server. Go to the server's wfs/bin directory and issue a ./edastart -?. This will display the commands that can be issued from a command prompt. edastart -x is probablt what you're looking for. You can write a shell script that does an edastart -x to execute a fex where the output is sent to a file.

You can also invoke any operating system commands, so, as long as you can sumbit a job from command level, it can be done from within WebFocus.
