I am running Norton 7.6 Corp Edition on approximately 40 Novell servers. My primary server is an W2K server but its only purpose is to download virus def. updates. It has no clients under it. Each of my sites has 2 novell servers and 1 of them at each site is a primary. Recently, a couple of the sites have been showing up in the System command center as icons with a red dot on it. This means that Norton is disabled, yet when I go to the servers, Norton is up an running and seems to be working fine. Does anyone know what would cause these servers to show up as disabled?

HI.

This seems like 1 of 2 possible causes:

* Communication error. Whatever protocol used (IPX or TCPIP) you should verify that both servers can communicate with each other.
This utility may help if you don't have it:

* There could be an error with NAV program on the local server. A reboot of the server will probably fix this until the next time.
I had bad experience with an older version NAV701 on NW411 server - over time (several weeks) NAV could abend the server or when trying to unload navnlm it could also cause an abend.
Applying latest service pack from Novell may help in such case.

Be careful - if you try to unload navnlm it might abend your server, so it is recommended to troubleshoot this after working hours.

Bye
