I have a button on my form and I want it to act like a combo box does.
ie to click it and a list appears displaying the contents of one of the columns of my table, then selecting a record from that list, it populates it to a text box.

create the list box as you want it to appear, set the visible property to no. Use the command button to change the visible propterty of the list box to yes, then when the user makes a selection from the list box, populate the text box, and set the visible property of list box back to no... Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former. (Albert Einstein)
