Let me start off by saying that what I know about AIX would fit in a thimble with room left over.

We have an RS6000 that has T1 & T2 comm ports on the back. IBM refers to tham as virtual ports. We want to be able to attach a modem to it. I have a straight through 9->25 cable attached that I tested on a "normal" comm port on a PC using PROCOMM. I'm able to access the modem via the AT command and get an 'OK' response. When the line is quiet the TR light on the modem is on. When I plug it into T1 port on the AIX machine no lights are lit. We execute a '/usr/lbin/tty/stty-cxma -a tty1' command and a significant amount of what looks to be switch settings are returned. By using the 'cu -ml tty1' command the system returns 'Connected' but I can't get the modem's attention via the AT command. The RD light doesn't even flash. Any ideas?

As Gilda Radner used to say in SNL.....

Plug it into port T2 & it works fine........
