We have a Meridian 11c with Symposium express call centre 4.2.
We have a Voice Gateway Media Card NTVQ01AB. When the system was first set up the vendor loaded Voice Menu and Comfort message files which we supplied to them as .wav files. They converted them to .sbc format which we believe is a compressed format and is required by the Media card. The vendor is no longer available and we need to load new message files but we cannot find a conversion programme to do this.
Can anybody advise/help ?

When you say Voice Gatway Media Card do you mean Voice Services Card which is the norm for an express. If it's a voice services card then you simply use the telephone interface from the Express admim terminal to record the announcements.

Yes I had realised that, unfortunately our powers that be want a "professionally" produced announcement with music etc ?

I tried to find a converter program via google; 'wav to sbc converter'

Only found some reference;

So you will need a program which will convert ".wav" to the "Lernout & Hauspie SBC codec".

Try to Google these items; probably there's a free/share ware program to find?

I don't think you need a conversion program, when the WAV files are uploaded the voice services card will do the conversion. Sadly I'm struggling to remember how to upload a WAV file right now.

Also (still) was struggling to find Nortel documentation on coverting a .sbc file.
It's for sure the Voice Services Card and .sbc files are sored on a PCMCIA card.

The 'Planning, Installation and Administration Guide'
speaks only of an upgrade; "You must convert the file format of the announcements from .SBC to a supported format, such as .WAV." But give no hints how to do that. It is possible to connect via FTP but only upgrades are described that way.

I would go with page 104 of the 'Call Center Management Guide';

and record the announcement via a phone. With the microphone disconnected and a .wav player (MP3 device or so) connected to it. So you can create your own "professionally" produced announcement ;-)
