Combo Boxes - Requesting data 1

I am connected to database files that can not be updated. I am trying to create a combo box that I can type in my request, have it look up the table and return the info. I have already created the combo box with the list of data from the table field already, but I want to be able to type in my request and it is not letting me do so. Is a combo box the right thing to use? Why can't I type in the data I want rather than select from list?

This is a long shot, have you got the 'control source' propery bound to a field from your data tables. If so you probably don't want this. The 'row source' property should determine which data is displayed in the box.

How do you return the information to display. Does the combo update a query or something?
