Combo Box Problem 1

I have created a table and three of the fields have combo boxes. In the design view, the data type is set to yes/no and I have used the lookup wizard to put in the values yes and no in a column so they can be selected in the drop down box. I have also set to the default value to null so when you input the data, the boxes start of blank so you have to physically select yes or no as a required field.

The problem is when yes or no is selected for one of the three fields the other two fields go from being blank to displaying no. This means that the user wouldn't have to physically enter the data for these fields and could easily make a mistake. I want each of the three fields to stay empty until the value is selected from the drop down box.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

PLEASE NO EXPLANATIONS ABOUT CODE. I DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT CODE, I JUST USE THE BASIC FUNCTIONS OF ACCESS.

my guess is that the other two fields have their default value set to "No". The selection triggers a new record. Check the default in both the table and at the form level.

The default values are set to null for each of the fields in both the table and the form.

JetSQL lacks tristate for boolean fields and therefore Null is the same as False.

Hope This Helps, PH.

So if null is the same as false, what do I put in the default value to make to combo boxes stay empty until each one is selected??

I've left the default value blank but the same thing happens. They are balnk till I select yes or no for one of them and the other two boxes turn to no without me doing anything.

They don't "turn to NO". When you create a record, the only values available are yes or no - it's the way the fields are designed. They MUST be one or the other. If you need a null value, you must pick a different field type (eg. a text field that can have values "Y" or "N". Text fields or numeric fields can also have a null value.
