I cannot get a combo box, created with a query, to display my information. Let's say I want Jeffersonville - I can type that in, hit enter and I only get to 'east' in the drop down list and and no more. I have 264000 records indexed on company name - used for taking orders. The companies can have multiple oder placrers so the box displays co name, contact name, address, city, state, and zip.

With that many records, it sounds like you might be overwhelming Access. Have you tried creating a text box to let the user type in the first few letters and then using that as a filter to cut down the number of records you have to retrieve.

Here's another idea. What if you had 2 comboboxes placed right on top of each other. The first one would have the autoexpand property set to zero and would be unbound with no data source. The second one would be hidden.

When the User clicks on the first one or presses enter, hide the first one and use the results as a filter for your query into the actual combobox which should now be more manageable due to the filtering. You could have autoexpand enabled for the second one.

Your criteria would look something like this:

Forms!YourFormName!YourFilteringComboBox

If you wanted, you could keep them in the first one until they had entered X number of characters to help the process. Is it safe to conclude that you have a numeric index associated with this table and that you are using it to populate the combo box.

I have no way of knowing how well the above will work since you have such huge amounts of data. If you want to try it and need some more help, just repost with some more questions or information.

Good Luck!
