I have a series of reports which give the results of individual competitions. The are based on queries which have no common field.

I want to combine these reports into a single report so that I can analyse the data using an Excel spreadsheet.

I have tried using sub reports but, as I cannot link the sub report with the master report, this does not work.

I'm not even sure if this is possible and would be grateful for any ideas.

Best Regards
John

Adding the two reports as subreports to an unbound main report should work. Why did you state that it doesn't?

Thanks dhookom,

The main report produces two lines of data (1st and 2nd in the competition). I added the sub report in the Detail section of the main report and, when I ran it, I saw the results of the sub report repeated after each line of the main report.

I couldn't see anywhere else to add the sub report, hence my assumption that it was not possible. Should I be adding the sub report in some other way?

Best Regards

If you only want one copy of the subreport, place it in a section of the report that renders only once. This would probably be the report Header or Footer section.

Thanks, dhookom,

That worked - I put the sub form in the page footer. However, this idea does not work when I export the data to Excel - I only see the data that is in the Details section, and also, if I have more than one sub form the detail section disappears. I'm still inclined to think I am attempting the impossible.

I suggested the Report Header or Footer, not the Page Header or Footer. The Page sections don't resize and if your report is multiple pages, you will get multiple copies of the subreport.

Thanks, dhookom, that solved it. I now have exactly what I need.

Thanks for your patience and help.
