I know this will be simple for all of you out there - but I am totally new to this.

I am tring to combine two fields, ap1_fore and ap1_surname to display at the top of a form in one. can anyone please help

Set the text box source = [ap1_fore] & " " & [ap1_surname] Maq B-)

Excuse me for butting in here but my guess is that you have miss-read Maq's instructions and have missed out the equals sign entering:

[ap1_fore] & " " & [ap1_surname]

when in fact it should be:

= [ap1_fore] & " " & [ap1_surname]

Regards
Rod

Another possibility is a circular reference. Is your text box named ap1_fore or ap1_surname? If so change it to ap_name or something else appropiate. Maq B-)
