I am having a bit of brain fade here. I am hoping that someone has an easily solution (I just cant see it)

Crystal 8.5
Act 6.0 database (using the database driver xbase supplied with Crystal)
All the records are in one table. The records are stored like so

Rec_No Name Category Status Date
1 XYZ PL Legal Deal 21/5/04
2 ABC Coy Accountant Deal 21/5/04
3 DEF Coy Bank Deal 3/6/04
4 GHI Coy Accountant Deal 01/5/04
5 JKL Coy Legal Deal 01/04/04
6 LMN Coy Accountant Deal 03/6/04

I want the records displayed like so

Rec_no Accountant Legal Bank
1 ABC Coy XYZ PL DEF Coy
2 GHI Coy JKL Coy
3 LMN Coy

Tot Count 3 2 1

Any sugestions I would be forever grateful.

Have you tried to do a cross tab?
So your Category field will go into your Columns section, you will summarise this category field

Etienne Oosthuysen
Hertfordshire, England

Try a crosstab?

Madawc Williams
East Anglia, Great Britain

Thanks for you help but I am still struggling using crosstab reports to get it to display the names on each on an individual line.

I would have to find someway of grouping the rows to get it to do that.

Am I able to this with crosstab reports.

Unless I am missing something

In your desired display, is there a reason that
"ABC Coy XYZ PL DEF Coy"
...are displayed in one line? In other words, is there some field that ties them together, e.g., like a project ID? Or are you simply trying to create a list of all accountants next to a list of all legal, and then all banks? The "Rec_no" seems to be a running total that you have added just to count the lines--right?

If you just want data accross, try creating the report using the Crystal Label wizard. That will give you columns and allow you to select the records printing down or across.

thanks to everybody and their comments. Home dramas have keep me offline.

lbass you are spot on with your questions. That is what I want to achieve.

Mr Bill
Like you idea and I will give it try in the next day or so.

My only idea was to write a subreport for each (Accountant, Legal, bank).

Thanks again
