The db I have contains one form and one report which users primarily work with. Both are setup in an Autoexec macro that automatically launches them when the db is opened.

Is is possible to merge the two together and make them appear as one? The report is pretty small (about 1 or 2 lines)...could we make the report appear in the lower half of the form, so that a user only needs to scroll down to see it instead of constantly flipping between the form and the report?

Thanks.

You can create a subform that displays your report data. Then you can use the subform tool to create a subform object with your subform as its Source Object. Now the user can view the main form as well as the data from your report which is now in the form of a subform. You could also put this subform on page 2 of your form and give them a button to toggle back and forth between page 1 and 2. Easy to do.

let me know if this is what you would like to do. I can assist you if you have any problems.

Thanks for this great info - This is what I'm going to do. I'll let you know if I run into any problems.

Thanks!

Well, as far as I know, it isn't possible to combine a report into a form, but if you know what the report will contain, can you not simply place a couple of text boxes at the bottom of the form and every time something is updated on the form, equal it in the text boxes at the bottom?

Or, when the DB opens, and the form and report auto open, why don't you just get them both to tile horisontally?

HOpe this is of some inspiration!

Post again if you need more...

I'm going to use a table (datasheet view) as the subform, since this appears to be the easiest way to go.

Question - How can I setup the subform to grow/shrink as needed depending on the amount of data. Currently I can only set a static size.

Aubs - The form & report are too large to tile horizontally. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Actually just use your wizard to create the subform and select tables as the source. You can then pick the table for the subform. The wizard will prompt for the fields to display and create a small subform for you. This can be modified to look just like a datasheet view. This subform should have the ScrollBar property set to vertical.

Now the user can scroll through the entire list of records. Make you subform as big as you can and let the scroll bars handle the records that are not visible.
