I am using crystal v11. I have a report with formulas to list software products. I made 2 more separate detail sections for the "additional products".
My problem is I can not combind the 3rd detail section with the 2nd detail to be on the same page because they are getting data from 2 different rows. It auto puts the 3rd data detail section on a new page.

It comes out like this:
Detail 1 (page1)
Detail 2 (page2)
Detail 3 (page3)

I want:
Detail 1 (page1)
Detail 2 (page2)
Detail 3 (page2 under detail 2)

Please any help.

To clarify, are you saying that 1, 2 and 3 are three different 'rows'?

If so, you need to group the product with the 'additional products'. You don't need to put anything in the group header or footer, which can be suppressed. But right-click on the group and you can specify 'Keep Group Together'.

Sorry about not being clear.
I have created addition details under the detail section. So subsection a,b,c,d,e

section a has the main products in them, where as b,c,d,e are additional products. In b-e I have formulas to search for the char in excel to signals its additional. I can't get the report to combine the detail b with c on one page. It splits it to two pages because b's data is coming from a different row in spreadsheet than c. I need to page break after a (which I did) BUT dont page break after b. It auto separates b,c,d,e in separate pages.

I tried the keep together tab for subsection b and c but
it still put them on a new page.

You were saying right click on group... do you mean right click>section expert>keep group together?
or is there another option I dont see?

Thanks

Try going to the section expert and select the higher order "details" above detail_a and check "keep together" for that.

When I do a keep together for overall detail it keeps everything together. However when I try to put new page befor detail a or after detail c it auto breaks up b and c to separate pages.

I can't get A to be on 1 page 1 and B and C to be on page 2.

I was thinking of trying a formula for New Page after. Any way to refer to the detail section in code?

not sure what else to try

thanks

Oh, I see. Could you please show what your data looks like if you only use one detail section? Be sure to identify which fields you are trying to display in a, b, and c.

There might be a different way of doing this. Is there some field that distinguishes b and c fields from the a field? You could consider creating a formula that groups on that field. Then you could insert a new page after on the group footer.

ya I ended up putting a formula for new page after, to check for a char code that was placed in b and c. For some reason when you click new page after on a subsection it wants to make another new page for the following subsection.

I just got it working the way I needed.

Thanks again LB
