In Excel, there is a chart option that allows you to show one set of values as a bar graph and a second as a line. Is there any way to do that in Crystal? Barring that, I need to insert a "goal line" into my chart to show which values rose above or fell below the management goal for that product. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Right click on one of the bars->series options->show selected series as: line.

Unfortunately, that changes both the value I need to show as a bar as well as the value I need to show as a line into lines. Each series is broken by change of month and Crystal is treating the "goal line" value as if it were the same as the score value.

I am running a Year to Date view of performance for specific metrics. Each chart shows a single metric and its performance score for each month of the year. In addition to this, I need to insert a "goal line" showing where the performance of each month exceeded or failed to meet the goal.

If you currently have two bars, one for each series, if you select one and make the suggested change you will have bars for one series, and a line for the others.

Maybe the problem is that I don't actually have two series. I am reporting both the measurement value and the goal line value in the Data area under "Show value(s):". I am assuming that Crystal is treating both of these values as a single series. Is that the case?

The two summaries would appear as two separate bars initially. Then select one bar and follow the previous suggestion. You will then have one summary represented as a bar and one as a line.

I did test this out, so I'm wondering whether you tried this, and what results you got.

It might help if you identified your CR version also.

LB - I did try that. I am actually showing four bars (two for November and two for December.) One bar represents the actual score, the other represents the goal value for their respective month. I selected the bar representing the goal value and changed the series display from bar to line. When I returned to the Preview page, all four values had been changed to lines. BTW... I am using Crystal XI.

So am I, and I get bars and a line. However, I was able to recreate your issue, by adding and then changing the summary fields--somewhere behind the scenes the summaries got linked for formatting purposes. When I started the chart from scratch again, I was able to get the bars and a line, so try a fresh chart.

Got it. However this time I went in reverse. I started with a Line chart and changed the primary value to a bar. Worked like a charm.

Thanks for all your help!!
