com4abap failures

We are having intermittent problems with com4abap.
We are using VB6 com+ components called from SAP.

What happens is this.
- we start the service on our server
- we check the connection from SAP - works fine
- we check our ABAP application - works fine
At some point over the next few days, the ABAP application fails. When we check the service, it still appears to be running, but when we check the connection from SAP, it times out.

As a workaround, we restart the service every morning. This reduces the occurances of the problem, but does not fix it.

Any ideas?
