Hi,

We have a problem, and I just want to verify if I'm correct.

We have 2 BS450 in cascade, connected to a hub.
The connection port of the hub is 24 and of the BS is 2.

Now when I'm trying to connect to the com port of the switch or either a connection via telnet, I cannot get any connection sign what-so-ever.

I'm not an expert, but could this have to do anything with the connection port?

Tnx,

YO

I HAVE had a 450 which worked fine but the Management card was lose, sound like that may be your Problem love everyone til they prove otherwise, sadly some prove otherwise SO quickly

But I have the same problem with the 2 BS connected in cascade.

Do you think this is the problem for both?

How can I check is this is the real problem?

Tnx,

YO

if you seperate them (as a Test) you could try your serial cable in Both, seperately. Cascaded they share one management module (the one where the switch is set to base)

BYW the serial port to nortel gear is a null modem adaptor different than the serial cable for Cisco or 3com.

I am not sure HOW you would telnet to a device you had not configured serially first. I love everyone til they prove otherwise, sadly some prove otherwise SO quickly

That's just the point.

I didn't set this up.

It appears that you are going to have to configure each switch individually.Connect a pc(laptop preferred) to the console port.Control y should get you in,unless a password has been enabled.Check the switch setup option. You can set telnet with a password and set the console port with a password. You can also customise the SNMP characteristics.

Good Luck.

PS I can e-mail you a procedure if you need detailed info.
