COM, DCOM , ActiveX, SOAP

Hi Guys,

Here is a basic question on MS's technology that is puzzling me. :)

What are the relative merits of COM, COM+, DCOM, ActiveX and SOAP?

With the adoption of SOAP, does this mean that the relevance of COM/DCOM is less?

Your answers will be apreciated. If you have links to pages that describe these issues, that will be superb as well. Thanks!
 
No, SOAP is a way for communicating thru the internet. Say, if you are dealing with customer having applications that interacts with your server.

DCOM, and COM is the fastest way for communicating with objects within your network.
