I have an amount column that I would like to get a total for at the end of my report. It is a currency field. Can someone let me know the best way to do that.

By the way I'm using Microsoft Access 2000.

On the footer of the report place a textbox and set it's controlsource to
Code:
=Sum([YourFieldName])

set the formatting to whatever you prefer from the list.

Can I do the same thing if I decide to group on one of my fields and then would I be able to get a total at the end of each group.

Try adding similar control as was given to you by ZmrAbdulla into the Group Footer.

Or just copy the textbox from the report footer to the group footer.
