column output centered

I wonder if someone could tell me hot to center the result of a select statement, cause <br>
char outputs are left aligned and numerical outputs are right aligned...<br>
To center the heading of a column I use the command:<br>
column col_name justify center<br>
but the output?<br>

You could read the data from the query through excel or something similar which allows the column justification to be amended.<br>
