Hi ALL,
I am really perplexed by this problem. I want my column headings to only appear when the detail is selected by the user in a drill down report. Here is an example of the higher level report before drilling down into the detail:
---- something report --------

Region 01
Region 02
Region 03

DRILL DOWN APPEARANCE
----- something report -------

Region 01
# of clients Total Sales
John Doe 22 $ 50,000
Mary Evans 17 75,000

Region 02
# of clients Total Sales
Fred Jones 12 33,000

The detail line shows the salesperson, along with the number of clients and any other calculated fields, such as total sales.

So, can someone recommend a technique for creating a special header that ONLY appears when the detail section has been selected via drill down by the user?

TIA, Randy

You can insert a running total {#cntwingrp} using the expert that counts every record and resets on change of the group field. Then place your page header fields in a detail_a section, putting your regular details in detail_b. Then go to the section expert->detail_a->suppress->x+2 and enter:

{#cntwingrp} <> 1

Wow!!
When I get back into my office I will try your technique. Thank you so much for responding to my request. If it works, I will most definitely come back and give you a well-deserved star!!!
Thank you again, Randy
