Colour Separations - how do you know if the angles are correct?!

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone could help me with a very annoying problem I have. I have an illustrator file made up of 2 imported tiff's, which I am trying to run to film. The film comes out very pixelated, and I dont know why. The tif files are very big, so the quality should be good (I guess!) I dont know if the problem may be the angles shown in the separations, they are: C:16 M:75 Y:0 K:45. I only wondered this as when I put the same file in Quark, the angles are completely different. The resolution is 2400 dpi and 150 lpi, so that should be ok.

Does anyone have any suggestions? - they would be gratefully received!

Thanks

Sam

What version of Illustrator? Are you placing the tiff's or an Illus. eps into Quark? Are you going to film from Illus. or placing it in another program? Screen angles should not cause pixelation and they have correct values. Are you running the film or outside service? What device is being used?

Hi Matzki,

I am using Illustrator CS2.

I placed the tiffs directly into the Quark file.

I am going to film from Illustrator - it's a .ai file if that makes any difference.

I am running the film to an Agfa Accuset 1000 with a Star 400 RIP.

The main thing that confuses me is that when I placed the tiff in the Quark file, the angles were different to the angles shown in Illustrator - can they both be right? Is there any formula to know that the resultant printed image will look right?

Thanks

Sam
