colour loss moving .ai files from mac to pc

I have a mac running AI9 in one office and a PC running AI8 in another. When saving artwork on the mac to open on the pc I save it as an .ai file for AI8. The PC can open the file no problem, but all colour is lost and it will only open the artwork in black and white. Any ideas. I want to maintain the resolution cross platform and edit the artwork on both platforms so haven't dabbled in eps or jpeg.

Try saving as EPS with PC 8-bit preview selected.

You might try just opening the AI9 file in AI8. If you didnt do any tricky stuff in AI9 you should be ok. The eps meathod meantioned above should work too. BEHOLD! As Steve Jobs introduces us the latest in desk-lamp technology!
