colorlaserjet C3099A blows fuser fuse immediately

I got this classic HP Colorlaserjet which blows the fuser fuse immediately without even warming up. I replaced the fuser and fuser wipers and it blew the new fuse. The original error was "fan motor error". Anybody got any ideas? HP doesn't have a clue. The fuser assembly in the unit is listed as an HP 5/5M. HP now says I have the wrong fuser assembly but each time I call them they tell me something different. I took the fuser part number off of the original part number. Any help would be appreciated.
