Hi all.

Apple's knowledgebase failed me, but I know you fine folks won't.

Our office has a Color Stylewriter 2400 connected to an older PowerPC 7100/80AV box running OS 7.5 and just recently started giving the following error message when sending a job to the printer:

A hardware error has occured. Please check for any obstructions by the color
stylewriter ink cartridge. Press the cancel button and try printing again. If the error
persists, see your manual.

Well, we've checked that printer over from top to bottom looking for obstructions and
have come up empty. We've replaced the ink cartridges, etc with no results.

If anyone has any suggestions or ideas, we would be greatly appreciative.

Thanking you all in advance!

Mark

Hey Mark,

Here's some weak a** suggestions for you on this one . .
We used to have a few of these, in fact there might be one or two still married to a G3 molar somewhere in the building. The error you speak of doesn't ring any bells per se.

I would certainly try bagging and reinstalling the print driver.
We've also encountered some issue with the carriage itself. If you are using a two tank configuration and those two tanks sit in a polypropelene carriage that snaps in place some times the hardware connection between the rigging and the carriage just plain old goes out. If you've got another similar machine, maybe a swap. Other wise... well a replacement. I don't think we've got any floating around here or I'd offer one.

Hope this helps.

Hi Mac

Thanks for the response, but I've solved the problem the old fashioned way. It's been "retired" permanently. Considering the age of the printer, it wasn't worth the time, expense or effort to fix it. It's been an interesting problem and if I have more time in the future, I might just toss it on the bench and tear it apart. I'll post any further info on it as an "FYI" when I do.

Thanks again!

Mark
