Color Printer Outputs Only Dirty Grey Pages

In my office, along with our old LaserJet IIs and IVs, we have a single color printer, a Minolta Color Pageworks EX. It worked fine for a while. Then, all of the sudden, it now prints nothing but a dirty grey page, with no hint of anything that looks like text or an image. It does the same thing regardless of whether it receives the print instruction through the funky parallel port or simply tries to print a test page. We got it cheap (since it was discontinued). I would like to fix it, but do not want to spend more than the darned thing cost in the first place. When it was working, it was great. Any suggestions on what I might do to fix it are greatfully appreciated. I would like to do the work myself (since I am the one who rehabilitated the LJIIs and IVs, and am somewhat handy with a screw driver).

Thanks.

We have replaced the cartridges, drums, and everything else replaceable, with no effect. While we have not cleaned it, I would have thought that dirt would be responsible for streaking, blotches, etc., not a total failure to print.

HP had a procedure for cleaning the 'corona (?)' wire which had a lot to do with print quality.
