Color Issues

I have been working on a menu in Pagemaker 7.0 and I am having some color problems with the default black. When I export a page to .pdf and view it in photoshop, the black fonts are actually showing as several different colors.

I'm still new to Pagemaker but I know that this will cause the registration to be off when I go to print. Any ideas? I do have trapping enabled. Thanks so much.

How did you get the text into PM? Was it by placing/importing a Word file? If so, this is probably the source of the multi-coloured 'black' text. Word is strictly RGB and when brought into a PM doc, adds a colour called 'auto' to the colour palette. If you select the 'auto' colour in the palette and drag it to the trash, you wil be asked if you want to replace all auto-coloured objects with black. Say yes.

This is one of the reasons I never place Word docs directly, but always save them in TXT format (or if really necessary to preserve local character formatting, RTF) before bringing them into PM.
