I use Illustrator 9 and Photoshop 7. When I need to save my images as hi res jpgs I take them into Photoshop and save them (as jpgs) at 150dpi or higher. The problem is, the color on the image is very washed-out when it is brought into Photoshop (adjusting curves can never make the colors true to the original Illustrator file). Does anyone else have this problem or even understand what I'm talking about?
I'd forget even taking it into Photoshop if someone could tell me how to save an Illustrator file as a jpg or tiff without taking it into Photoshop.

File>Export and TIF is near the bottom of the list of file types. Even JPG is listed as a file type you can export an AI file as.

Marla- I see you got your ideal answer above. However, you original problem....are the colors faded because you are bringing it into PS as a CMYK image vs RGB?

Also...There is a (save for web) option in Illustrator 9 & 10. I will take those baked cookies now..thank you. I love your illustrations!

i make sure my illustrator document is in the same color mode as the photoshop one (i've tried all combinations).
i did start saving my images as jpgs in illustrator (which is helpful for saving [hi res] downloadable images for the web). but... the color's still messed up when you open those jpgs in photoshop. i still need to do that sometimes to crop certain pictures. is there a way to crop in illustrator? so many questions...

thanks for looking at my site! honestly, i'd get some cookies to you except that the only thing in my budget is Ramen right now (the luxurious life of a freelancer!)
