So here's the deal. I'm playing around with my Paint Shop Pro, and I'm trying to figure out something. So I have a color image which I want to turn black and white, but I want to keep something in the picture color. How do I go on to do this?

Here's one way of doing it (I don't have a copy of PSP to hand here, so I can't give you the exact menu options to select):

Start with your colour image, select "duplicate layer" from the layer menu/palette. That will give you two copies of the image, one above the other.

Use the layer palette to select the top layer.

Use the adjust Hue/Saturation/Lightness (HSL) dialogue to reduce the saturation to 0, this will turn the top layer black and white.

Use the eraser tool to rub out the bit of the image you want in colour. The top layer will be erased, and the colour image will show through from below.

When you're happy with it, you can "merge all" layers together.
