Color Fill My Custom Shape

After creating a custom shape using individual lines (straight and curved), how can I select the whole shape and fill with color? I assumed I'd be able to 'group' the lines and fill the same way I can fill a premade circle, etc.

To be able to use Fill Colour, the shape must be a closed shape and not a set of lines. Take a look at some of the functions like Join under Operations under the Shape menu.
