collision and loch problems

i have a nav bar for a presentation... when one of the buttons are rolled over i'm adjusting the height and width of the sprite to 'zoom' this is causing the sprite to touch the other choices... is there a script to get them to move on 'collision' or touch... the effect i'm looking for is like the mac os x dock effect when it is rolled over... anyone got an answer?
