Recently (as I was trying to install a 2nd site), gold lock icons appeared next to all my collections, which are also now empty. I have removed the 2nd site. I have undone everything I think I did and gone back to only AD discovery. However, I can not get these gold lock icons to go away nor get the collection membership to update.

What do I do?
TIA, Matthew

The gold lock on Collections indicates that the collection is being managed from an "above level" SMS site. I don't think I understand you question.

When ever you have an SMS site that reports to a parent SMS site, you will see the gold locks. These locks indicate that the Collection is being managed from a higher level SMS site.

-hope this helps..

as Joseph said the lock is from a parent site and the reason nothing would show up in the collection is because nothing is in the boundaries yet, what shows up in the central site is everything below it, a child site will only show whats in its own boundary

Thank you both. However, this SMS installation is only 1 server. There is no parent site. I did setup a child site under this server (which I never did get to work). I deleted the child site, and this is when the gold locks appeared. I am pretty much at the point of wiping SMS out and starting over with a fresh install because if what you are saying is true, then this SMS install now thinks it is a child site somehow when it has always been the only site.

Go into the site hierarchy in the admin console right click on your site, go to properties and under the 1st tab push the set pareant site and select none. that should fix that....if something other than NONE appears as the parent, thats why your having problems.

Hope that helps
