Does anybody know where I can download or request an evaluation copy of Cisco Netflow or CEA ? I want to collect and format connection stats from a 3640 Router. I want to work out performance and trends easily and am finding the 'bog standard' stuff from the IOS difficult to assimilate.

The Router has ISDN PRI and Modem modules as well as the Ethernet Interface .

Am I looking to the correct products ? If not can someone point me in the right direction please.

Look at Solarwinds management tools. I use it to get raw stats on the various ports in real time, it does have trending tools. ANother tool I use is Kiwi Cat tools and their Syslog server. The syslog server is one of the easist ways to get traps and stats if you set up the debug and alarms correctly.

There are most expensive tools but these are cheap. The two cat tools are about 25 bucks each and Solarwinds is 350 for the version I use.

Mike,

Do you have contact info such as a URL for these tools?

Thanks

Solar Winds is , but I can't find the other one yet .

Talk about world wide wait , I'm downloading the evaluation copy of the tools and its taken 2 hours so far (c38meg). Should have coughed up the money and gone for the CD @ $15 !!!

Try solarwinds.net Notice the lack of the WWW. And yes, it's a huge file to download but with my DSL I forgot to mention it. Sorry about that. They use to offer the tools a independent packages but apparently that has been change to a all or nothing deal. Still, it's cheaper then HP Openview or Unicenter.

Mike, I've been trying it (Solar Winds ) and its solved other little problems / inconveniences I've had , but doesn't seem to be able to give me stats , like call time and duration over ISDN. (Being able to telnet an address immediately you see it go down from the same application - Watchit - is really useful for instance). The TFTP is dead easy to set up , don't know why I've had trouble with other applications now I've used this !

I think I could work out a way via alarms/events into Email and then organise the times that way for the 'static' ISDN connections ( I can set them up in the monitor), but not sure how to grab the info for RAS users (PSTN & ISDN).
I can't find the KIWI CAT stuff at all and ' and surfin' -any ideas which site it will be on? Cheers so far . [sig][/sig]

Find Kiwi at

He has a couple of very useful tools which are CHEAP and function well. Which is more then I can say for some other very pricy and big name tools I have to use( and dont)

I'd have to think and play with my own ISDN circuits before I offered an opinion on how to do this. You could write to Solar and ask, they have been very helpful in the past for myself.

Mike ,
I didn't find the Kiwi products that useful , but they are cheap . I think I just like Solarwinds ease of use that much more .

I'm trying to purchase the Engineers copy of Solarwinds (what I mean is trying to get the money from Finance) !!

Thanks again Paul C.

The one product I use from Kiwi is the syslog deamon. It's stable and works well on my Winterm server :) And cheap!
