What is the best method for getting someone to dial an extension and save it as a variable in Voicemail Pro.

What I want to have someone do is remotely enable/disable forwarding and do not disturb. I have the generic item set up to work using $SAV as the extension. But I do not know how to get a four digit extension saved into $SAV that has been entered by the user. I have tried the alphanumeric collection but had no success, but all I want is numeric collection. I may have set up the alphanumeric collection wrong.

I know this has to have been before by people, but I couldn't find any examples in other threads. If there is one that I missed please point me in the right direction.

Use the remote configuration action in voicemail pro. It give someone access to remotely turn on call forwarding and DND.

just FYI, put a MENU action with ???? (or whatever your extension length is) to collect digits. Send that to whatever you want. But bdelmar is right, just put in a remote config menu, OR a get mail...it'll ask for an extension and password. In the specific of the get mail theres a "provide advanced personal options" check box.

Thank you for the help, I got everything I wanted working. Using the menu action with ???? worked great folowed by a Generic action that saves it to a variable. I then used another menu two generic commands to set DND to 0 or 1 for that extension.

I didn't want to use the Remote Configuration action or voicemail 'Provide Advanced Personal Options' because I didn't want to give my users that much control.

Thank you for the help. It is working great.

no problem. glad its working.
