collapsable UL

Hi,
I have created three ul class.I am not able to create a collaspable ul pattern.It just disappears or changes visibilty but i am not able to create a tree structure.
i have used attributes like
visibility:visible, visibility:hidden or
display:none

Is it possible to without using php or java scripts.
I suppose it is not possible with css only

It is possible in regular browsers, not possible in IE because of its lack of support for :hover on all elements. That gives away the answer, yes, you mostly use :hover to achieve that. Suckerfish is an example of such a list (JS is to make it work in IE):

If, however, you wish to have each menu item expanding / collapsing when clicked (rather than hovered over), you will need to use JavaScript.

Take a look at thread215-1094852 , the solution I posted at the end uses a little javascript to do the collapsing & expanding. If you view with JS turned off, the tree is shown fully expanded.
