I'm doing a collage for a project at work and I want the 4 photos to have an aged, grainy look. Is this a special filter or can I do something manually in photoshop to make the pictures look like this??

Thanks for anyone that can give me some help!!

Hi,

Make a new layer, fill it in with grey or some color. FILTER|NOISE|ADD NOISE then change either the opacity or the blending modes. That might give you the effect you are looking for.

Hope this helps!

I want to have several photographs together on my page . In layers and in the background. Many company logos are made that way. Can I do it in photoshop elements. How do I start. First, I have to scan the photgraphs... then what? Can somebody spoonfeed me?

I know in Phtotshop 6 there is a filter under "Artistic" called Film Grain. Play with that one. Otherwise do some edge tearing and use the burn tool or just get creative. I suggest that you pick up some actual worn out pictures to study. Whenever I do texture work I paint them with the effects I see on real life objects.

user2, if you could be more specific about the effects you want with your photos and how you want them in the background it would be easier to advise you how to start.
