As I mentioned in another posting I am designing a web page for a friend. He called me last night and began discussing possibly using ASP instead of ColdFusion. My experience with ASP is limited but functional enough to complete task for him. What I really wanted to know from the true ColdFusion Developers and not just a dabbler like myself is what are there benefits of using ColdFusion over ASP or ASP.Net. I want to be able to provide my friend better information for choosing ColdFusion over ASP other then I am more comfortable with it at the moment. Thanks

This web site may answer some your questions.

It's full of interesting facts like: "One recent estimate found that to add CF Professional functionality to ASP involved a raw cost of goods that topped $30,000."
AND
"ColdFusion is the leading commercial (as in paid for) application server, and is second only to ASP in published pages. ColdFusion is used by over 75% of the Fortune 100."

It's one of Ben Forta's web site.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply I will check it out.

what is the site for and where is it hosted from? asp is basicly free. for a small site that someone is running from home, asp is general better from a cost to performance view.
on a bigger project, the time saved coding pays for the server within days.

Sorry took so long to respond but have been away. Site is for a small communcation company dealing with fiber optics, networks, etc. His current site is hosted by WestHost and they don't handle ColdFusion pages so would have to either invest in dedicated server, find someone to host, or build/maintain server on site. Thanks for the response.
