Another question from a non Coldfusion person about moving to the .NET platform (whatever that is). Will the software running now developed with ColdFusion MX co-exist with other software that might be developed with Scorpio that uses a Microsoft SQL Server database? We have remote users over the internet in a secure environment (I am told). This may be a garbled question because of my lack of knowledge but it's basically - do we lose our existing investment in Coldfusion software when/if we move to the next Microsoft .NET whatever.

ColdFusion and .Net are two completely different programing languages and platforms. They don't have anything to do with each other. You can have ColdFusion applications, and you can have .Net applications and they have no bearing on each other. But if you turn your existing ColdFusion applications into .Net applications, then you will no longer be using ColdFusion and, yes, you will no longer need your ColdFusion software.

Hope This Helps!

Software developer and running CFMX7 should , for the most part, run on 'scorpio'. Of course, as with all product version upgrades, there MAY be incompatibilities between CFMX7 and 'scorpio' but that remains to be seen still I think,
