Hi,

How does multi-processing work in C8.2?
Can Cognos 8.2 BI server can take advantage of multi cpu's in a Windows 2003 Server?

I can not find any information about it.

How can Cognos 8.2 BI server be configured to use multiple processors to increase performance?

Is there a limit in C8.2 with the number of processors that the tool can run with?

thx,

Each started report is a thread.
Every new thread is send to an available processor directed to by the OS.

So yes C8 is multi-processing aware and will use multiple processors on a machine.

Buying an HP series with a 5100 series (multi core) set of processors in it, give you excellent firepower for C8.

The "Tool" is limited by what the OS gives it.

Using 16 cpu based servers is usually a bad investment for a reporting server though. (bad roi)
