Please, can anyone tell me how to obtain cognos trial. I'm new to it and need to get a little practice with impromptu. Should I contact their representative?

Thanks in advance.

Normally trial software is not issued, except in rare situations. I know that the Cognos reseller whom I work for prefers to do a proof of concept phase.

We come in for X number of days, meet with key users, to verify that you are looking at the correct tool based on your needs. Then we do a small proof of concept to demonstrate that the product will fulfil your needs.

I've over-simplified part of our sales process, but feel free to contact me.

No, my case is different. I need to prepare myself for the interview. How can I contact you?

I'm more than willing to answer any questions you may have, but I will not provide a copy of the software.

My suggestion for a job interview concerning Impromptu is to familiarize yourself with the whitepapers. Learn what Impromptu can do, its functionality and some of its usages. Be prepared to speak to the capacity of the product.

I got my job by knowing what business intelligence was, and how it meshes with management concepts and principals. I had never touched a bi tool before in my life, and I had job offers from both BI vendors I interviewed with.

Cheers!

Chuck

Hi, Chuck

There is no need for you to give me copy of the software. I'm just starting with Cognos and BI, so I appreciate any help. I think I will have a lot of questions soon. Yesterday I had a list and I tried to post it here, but there was technical problems with the forum and I already have the answers on them. Can you recommend some materials - books, e-books etc, especially for the beginners in the BI but NOT in the databases?

Thank you
Eduard
