Have a script that is scheduled in Impromptu and runs a variety of reports. Occasionally the job will hang saving the catalog. Don't really need to save the catalog. Quit and Close are saving the catalog. Is there anyway to end the script so that it DOESN'T save the catalog?

Thanks for any help!

I never have this problem but I think you have some options to correct this problem.

First, open a report with a class who does not have grant to change catalogue. Use a user class and not an author class.

Second, you can that a catalog file read only. I never try this and I don't know if you will have a side affect but instincticly I will try it.

For a best practice, I will use a first solution.

Gilles.

Cernest,

Gilles is correct. It is a good practice to make your catalogs read-only. This prevents users (or you) inadvertantly changing them. (Or even upgrading them to another version accidentally).

Thanks for the help Gilles & Dave. I think this should do the trick. Just giving it some time as it didn't happen consistently. If we make it thru the weekend we'll be dancing!

Thanks again,
Chris
