cognos reportnet time out?

Hi!
I get cognos reportnet time out whenever i generate a report from a large data warehouse. Would it be possible to increase the time out?

2)Also is there any best practice's or document to performance tune reportnet models and packages?

3) When i convert a reportnet report to pdf format, the pdf rendering crash's.Does any one know why this happens and what i can do to correct it?

For #1. You can increase the timeout. That is done thru Cognos Configuration. Security=>Authentication. The default is 3600 secs (1 hour). Just change the setting, reapply & restart the service.

For #3. What kind of errors are you getting on crash? Are they from ReportNet or are they from the native database? CRN uses optimizers....we have a UDB warehouse and our users were crashing on .xls, .html, etc. When we took a look at the sql, we could see that different hints were supplied to the Db depending on the output format. We then had to modify db parameters. The other option is to modify the appropriate .ini file for your database flavor.

For #2....Sorry...don't know the answer to that one.
