Hi there,

We recently upgraded our powerhouse version from ph823d7 to ph843d. The OS is Sun Solaris 8 64bit and we have Oracle 8.1.7.4 64 running on the server.

When we run reports against the Oracle database using the old version of the software it takes approx 2 minutes, using the new version the same report takes approx 15 minutes. When doing a trace on the report's SQL, the amount of "fetches" using the new powerhouse version is almost double that of the old version. These "fetches" I see is when I use Oracle's tkprof utility to look at the generated trace file.

ANY idea/suggestions/push in the right direction will be much appreciated.

Thanks,
J.

Some more info...

We had to change the dictionary entry from:

-------------
Database MYDB &
Type ORACLE &
Null values not allowed &
Open ORACLE &
Owner HHH &
Userid '/ '
-------------
To:
--------
Database MYDB &
type ORACLE &
open oracle@mydb.world &
Null values not allowed &
Owner HHH &
Userid '/ '
----------
for the new version to work. If the old entry is used quiz core dumps.

If I leave out the "mydb.world" part I receive an error that the tnsnames entry cannot be found, but what I don't get is that I can change the "oracle@mydb.world" to "oracle@thisdoesnothing.world" and quiz will still work! looks like the "@oracle@..." must be there even if it is garbage???
