We are developing a J2EE application in which we would be using Cognos Series 7 for generating reports. This application would have two parts - online and offline. In the offline mode, the user would have the web-server installed on his/her laptop. If we use Impromptu Report, is it possible to do so without installing any additional software on the clinet machine. The two approaches I know of would require installation of either Impromptu administrator or IWR Server on the laptop:
1. Local copy of .imr and .cat files. In this case, I would need Impromptu Administrator on the laptop to run/view the reports
2. Install IWR server on the laptop, publish the Impromptu report on the IWR server and use Upfront portal to view the reports in a pdf format.
Can anyone suggest an approach by which we would be able to run the Impromptu report on the laptop without installing any additional software?
