Hi

can anyone help me. I have an Oracle database & i am using Cognos Impromptu to create reports of it. I have got a catalogue working on another PC with the same database, but when i switch it across to a diffent PC & use it i am getting an TNS error when it attempts to attach the database. I checked the TNS names & can make an SQLPLUS connection to the database, so therefore there should be no connection issues ??

has anyone come across this before ?

James,

Under "Catalog" drop down menu, open "Databases".

Expand the type of database you are connecting to (oracle) , select the name of the connection you use, and select "edit".

Make sure the SQL*Net connection string is the same as the entry in your TNSNames.ora file.

They can be different, which could cause problems.

We use the "edit definition" to change our connection so we use Development databases for testing reports, and another for our Production database.
