Is it possible through Cognos Scheduler or otherwise to print an Impromptu report in a batch versus the interactive printing? We are hoping to incorporate a job to print Cognos reports into our new job scheduler, and I don't quite know where to start.

THANKS!!

Gail

Gail,

Batch printing with Impromptu is best done with a macro. Check the help files and documentation for examples of macros using the .print method. What is the set of filter data that needs to be queued for printing? (i.e. is it multiple prompt filters for the same report, or different reports that need to be printed?).

Let me know what details you need.

The print itself luckily is an easy one. It is no prompts - one report (that has many many MANY pages). We will want to print it at the end of the night after daily posting is complete.

Thanks!!!

Gail,

Sounds fairly easy to do. Another alternative you may want to consider is to use SaveAsPDF, either in the macro or manually, depending on whether you really need all that paper or not. This has the additional advantage of not having you walk in next morning and find that the printer jammed/ran out of paper/broke down after the first ten pages.
