Cognos Impromptu 7 executable not opening 1

Hi, I am new to Cognos products, however one of my users is unable to execute the Cognos Impromptu program. Hourglass comes up for 2 seconds then goes away with no response. The mapped drive to the server does work, however if I try to open any of the reports stored on the server I get an error saying that part of the file is missing cannot be opened, blah, blah, blah...any ideas?

Go into that users C: drive and find the Impromptu.ini file (usually in the folder c:\Program Files\Cognos\cerx\bin where x is 1 for Impromptu 6, 2 for Impromptu 7, and 3 for Impromptu Series 7 version 2). Rename this file to Impromptu.old. Impromptu will recreate the file when it opens. Corruption in this file can often cause Impromptu to fail while opening.
