I have been using the tool part time now for a few months. I am pretty new to ETL but I have about 6 years Cognos. From what I can see of DS it certainly seems a very powerful tool and its best feature is its stability which is vastly superior to all other Cognos products I have used so far. This might have something to do with it actually being developed over Unix and then purchased by Cognos and ported to Windows.
We also use informatica here and I can see that the developers using that have a lot more coding to do to achieve the same results.
I would say DS is a good tool best used if in unison with other Cognos products where as Informatica is best used for larger more complex projects.
If your a Cognos developer then it makes sense to try and run with this the Cognos tools as much as possible.
